Service to a 1996 Camry V6
I do my own work to my car, and as I figure things out regarding my car I will put more information about it here.
All these links are for my 1996 Camry V6 LE.
A few important tidbits about this vehicle.
- The body style is basically identical for the 1992-1996 Camry regardless of model
- The engine for my vehicle is the 1MZ-FE (more about it later). It is the same V6 engine used in the Toyota Avalon and Camry as well as the Lexus ES300 from 1994-1996 models. It appears that the V6 engine for 1992-1993 was the 3VZ-FE. The 2.2L L4 engine which is the standard equipment is the 5S-FE. There is not going to be much talk about the L4 engine here.
Here are some specifications on the 1MZ-FE engine collected from a variety of sites:
- 2995cc DOHC (Dual Overhead Cam) 24 valve V6.
- Engine type: PFI (Port Fuel Injection)
- Power: 200HP (149kW) @ 5200RPM
- Torque: 214 lb-ft (290Nm) @ 4400RPM
- At least partly aluminum (more on this later). Weight: 401 pounds.1

And finally, the links:
Wait, what links?
I hope to be writing about the following:
- (All 1992-1996) Front (Passenger and Driver) interior door trim removal gotchas.
- (V6 1992-1996) Replacing and inspecting the brakes (4 wheel disc... Sorry L4 owners)
- (V6 1992-1996) Simple oil change making a huge mess
